Hirers Liability
Provides Public Liability and Products Liability insurance to temporary hirers of Uniting Church Buildings and Uniting Church Grounds who request Public Liability insurance for the duration of the hire.
Note, Public Liability cover for UCA property is provided under the broader Public Liability policy in place, our "standard" cover provides for such events as injury or personal loss for people on the Church property and the Church has found to be negligent and a loss has been suffered.
For 3rd party people or organizations that hire a venue at one of the UCA's facilities and this is not part of the usual activities (e.g. does not apply to conference centres) the "standard" cover does not apply as a result the group or person must have in place their own Public Liability policy, evidence of this must be provided by way of a certificate of currency or the hiring person or group can (for a small fee) access this cover which provides suitable insurance coverage at a very low price to assist such practices of renting halls and the like.
Insured:
Persons or Organisations who from time to time make application to the Uniting Church in Australia Synod of New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory, The Uniting Church in Australia Northern Synod and The Uniting Church in Australia National Assembly for the "temporary hire" of Uniting Church premises, and who are noted in the records of the Uniting Church as having requested Public liability insurance for the duration of the hire.
Situation and/or Premises:
Anywhere in the Commonwealth of Australia.
Limits of Liability:
Public Liability $5,000,000
In respect of any one occurrence or series of occurrences arising out of the one event during the Period of Insurance.
Products Liability $5,000,000
In respect of any one occurrence or series of occurrences arising out of one event and in the aggregate during the Period of Insurance.
Excess:
Each and every claim or series of claims arising from the one occurrence (inclusive of Defence Costs) $500
All occurrences of a series consequent upon or attributable to one source or original cause shall be deemed one occurrence for the purpose of the application of the above Deductible.

Application form and cheque in payment of premium must be received prior to the date of the function.
Note: Cover is designed for short term casual hires for the occasional function or meetings.
Long term hirers must carry their own Public Liability insurance and provide evidence by way of a certificate of currency at the time of hire.
